Flower Season in Langebaan. August 21 2021

Whether you are walking or driving through Langebaan, the veld draws your eye to the beauty which surrounds you. The carpets of rain daisies look like snow from a distance and up close one sees the different varieties of yellows, pinks and blues in between!

The West Coast National Park is the place to visit at present! Postberg is only open for August and September when the flowers are at their best. It is best to go during the week when it is less crowded. There you will see fields of rain daisies and orange daisies with eland or zebra grazing amongst them. There are other species of buck to be seen and you may even spot a caracal!

The hike through Postberg must be booked in advance. It is about 15km and well worth it as one sees the geophytes and flowers one may miss whilst driving through.

The flowers follow the sun so best to see them from the North between 10h30 and 15h30. Enjoy!

Bay Gallery has some exquisite artwork of the flowers so do take time to visit! Phone or WhatsApp 0733048744.

Painting featured is of Seeberg in the West Coast National Park, not far from the Langebaan gate, and by artist Antonia Velissariou.
